When it comes to women pushing boundaries and doing the unimaginable in extreme sports, these five women have truly set a new standard for greatness. From skateboarding in South Africa to snowboarding in Canada, each of these women has taken their respective disciplines to new heights!
Let’s start with Lizzie Armanto from California. She is most known for being the first woman ever to land a full loop on her skateboard – even before Tony Hawk! Lizzie’s accomplishments don't stop there – she was also the first woman ever to compete in Vans Park Series Pro Tour which earned her a position on the prestigious Skateboarding Hall of Fame alongside some of the best skaters in history.
Next is Eveline Van Der Bijl from South Africa. This fearless woman is a skateboarder who has taken on some of the wildest and gnarliest skate spots in Cape Town and beyond. Not only does she have an impressive list of achievements, but she also serves as an inspiration to women everywhere, showing that no obstacle should stop you from going after your dreams.
Third up is India Robinson from Canada. India was a member of the Canadian National Snowboarding Team for five years and recently earned her spot at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang where she finished 10th place overall. On top of her Olympic success, India has also won two X Games gold medals, six silver medals and one bronze medal.
Number four is Kia Walker from Oregon. This woman’s snowboarding career is nothing short of impressive – she has won two gold medals and one silver medal at the X Games, three consecutive world championships and an Olympic gold medal in Sochi. Her hard work and dedication to her sport have earned her a well-deserved spot as one of the top women snowboarders in the world.
Last but not least we have Amelia Brodka from Poland. She has had success both on and off the board, winning multiple World Championships, becoming a coach for the Polish National Snowboarding Team and starting her own women's snowboarding camp called "Women & Waves". Through this camp she has been able to work with women of all ages and levels, inspiring them and helping them achieve success in the sport.
These five women are proof that women can do anything they set their minds to. Whether it be skateboarding, snowboarding or something else, these women have shown us that hard work pays off and with the right attitude and dedication, anything is possible.
